Asbestos

The Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) of 1986 requires that the District notify parents annually concerning asbestos-containing building materials in the school building their child attends, and that the management plan for that building is available for review.

Equal Employment Opportunity (Affirmative Action)

It is the policy of the Boone Community School District Board of Education to extend equal opportunities to all employees and to applicants for employment who meet the qualifications established for a class or a position for which the application is made.

Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act affords parents and students over 18 years of age certain rights with respect to access and confidentiality of student educational records.

Student Directory Information

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act provides that a school may disclose appropriately designated directory information without written consent.

NCLB Military Recruitment List “Opt Out” Form

Section 9528 of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 requires schools to release family’s private information to military recruiters unless we “opt out” in writing. The following form provides the option to remove your child’s and/or family’s name from the Military Recruitment List.

No Child Left Behind: Teacher Qualifications

Parent/Guardians in the Boone Community School District have the right to learn about the following regarding the qualifications of their child’s teacher(s). Individuals may request this information from the Central Office by calling (515) 433-0750 or sending a letter of request to the Central Office, 500 Seventh Street, Boone, IA, 50036. Teacher qualification information is also available from the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners.

Harassment and Bullying

The District is committed to providing all students a safe and civil educational environment in which all are treated with dignity and respect. The District is also committed to promoting understanding and appreciation of the cultural diversity of our society. The District shall educate students about our cultural diversity and shall promote tolerance of individual differences.

Grievance Procedure

Title IX

Pursuant to Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 and the U.S. Department of Education’s implementing regulations at 34 C.F.R. Part 106, the College’s Title IX Coordinator has primary responsibility for coordinating the College’s efforts to comply with and carry out its responsibilities under Title IX, which prohibits sex discrimination in all the operations of this College, as well as retaliation for the purpose of interfering with any right or privilege secured by Title IX.
