Welcome to fourth grade in Boone! The goal of the 4th grade team of teachers is to provide a rich environment of learning opportunities for all students.
Fourth grade literacy instruction includes a balanced approach that emphasizes vocabulary development, fluency, and comprehension along with direct instruction in English grammar, spelling, and written expression. Students will have opportunities to explore the following topics in science: plants, animals, energy, waves, and Earth Science. The focus of social studies includes an introduction to our country’s government, people, and economy. Students will learn about the regions of our country including the natural features and how they affect the local economy. Math topics presented are geometry, place value, multiplication, perimeter/area, division, data interpretation, problem solving, measurement, and fractions.
Students will be given the opportunity to learn through a variety of hands on activities and projects in many subject areas. All students will utilize educational technology including chrome books, iPads, and interactive whiteboard instruction.
